Speaking of Photography #3

"When people look at my pictures I want them to feel the way they do when they want to read the line of a poem twice."
Robert Frank

I think every photographer feels that way. We take our pictures for the enjoyment of others; not ourselves.

Speaking of Photography #2

Woohoo! It's Wednesday and the week is halfway done. Which also means, its quote day!

"It's not how many or what kind of lights you use, but how they are placed."
Horst P. Horst

On the subject of lighting; I hate using the flash. The last time I used a flash I actually rented a speed light from Vistek for Hunter's Baptism. Prior to that...I can't remember the last time I used the flash in any of my pictures. Why? I hate the way the flash drowns out colours and makes everything look very unnatural.

I encourage everyone to trying shooting without the flash...you may be surprised at how much more you begin to like your pictures.

Cayden on one of our Nature Walks

Since I mentioned our nature walks on my last post, I started editing some of my pictures that were taken during those walks.

Here's my darling Cayden getting all excited over the amount of ducks down below. He had to move his hat to see them. I snapped this photo just as he was turning around to get my attention.

He's becoming quite the little man :)
He'll be five in the next couple months, which only makes me wonder...where'd the time go?

So here's to my firstborn...

Wasp's Nest

One thing that we all enjoy doing as a family, is going out on family nature walks. When we announce that we're going for a walk, the kids automatically run to the side of the house and get their "walking sticks" and wagons. One wagon Todd always pulls in case the kids get tired and need a break and the other either gets pulled by Cayden or becomes a tandem wagon and ends up of filled with pine cones, rocks, sticks and anything else they can find that's interesting along the way.

The first thing I grab; my camera. Mind you, I hardly go anywhere without having my camera with me. The one thing that I have over a thousand pictures of, are nature shots.

Luckily for me, Todd was able to find this wasp's nest over 30 ft up in a tree. I wish I was able to get closer to the inside of the nest but I'm still happy with what I got....

Template Layout Change

I decided today to change my layout and experiment with the placement of my ads and gadgets.

Oh my God, what have I started?

This was SUPPOSED to be easy. Since this is a photography blog (duh!) I wanted to make the posts take up most of the page space and make the photos bigger. Going from a three column template to a two column, isn't easy. Not only that but figuring out where to re-place ads on the sidebars and within the body is just down-right frustrating.

I'm currently working on editing a photo in Photoshop CS3 and hopefully get the chance to post it later on today.

My apologies to anyone who is here viewing today and finding it either really slow or mis-matched and all over the place. I'm working on having it fixed...thanks for your patience.

Speaking of Photography....Weekly Quote

"Whether you want it to or not, a photo reproduces an atmosphere."
Edouard Boubat

I decided that I'd like to start adding quotes on a regular basis. So, from now on, every Wednesday I'll post a photography quote. Hopefully, now that Hunter's getting older, I'll have more time to dedicate to my blog and maybe the quotes can become a daily post :)

Cupcake Montage

Cupcake Montage, originally uploaded by candied.photography.

These little cupcake booties took care of two hobbies....I got to decorate them (love cake decorating) and made for a great CS3 opportunity.
