New Watermark Banner

After spending most of the afternoon gathering ideas on what I wanted my new watermark to look like I finally opened up Photoshop CS3 and got to work. Considering I changed it a million times, I'm still not sure if I'm completely satisfied with it and I'm positive I'll be finding some way to change it.

So here's my new watermark on a photo I took of the CNE gates. Just so everyone knows...those freaky clouds are completely unedited :)

Let me know what you think of the new banner and any changes you think I should make. Any and all suggestions are completely welcome.

Watermarking and Copyrights

I've spent a good part of the morning researching watermarks, copyrighting and why they're effective.

The watermark that I currently use on my photos was a quick solution to "branding" my photos before blogging them or uploading to Flickr. One thing a photographer hates is having their work either used without their permission or altered in ANY way. I have no problem with people using my photos to display to others but only with a watermark being present. It's my work and time spent creating my photos and anyone who wants to display it should respect that.

There's nothing wrong with the watermark that I use now...other than I want to change the business name. I'd also prefer to have a watermark that stretches the length of the photo instead of just a tiny area.

So keep on the lookout for my new watermark!

Someone's barefoot...

Spending some time in Toronto offers so many photo opportunities that sometimes are hard to catch when traveling in the car.

On my way to the Rosewater Supper Club I spotted these hanging from a power line. I was lucky enough to be able to see, focus and expose for the shot just in time. Catching the perfect shot while the car is moving while in full manual mode is no easy task, but makes for much nicer photos. I find that the pre-defined modes on any camera leave much to be desired.

Someone's barefoot...

Does your camera have a manual mode? If so, do you ever use it?
I urge everyone to try out their manual modes if they have it. You might just find photography a little more interesting if you try it out.

My Wedding Weekend

Ok...so it wasn't MY wedding, but there were other people's weddings.

This weekend Todd ended up on a permanent IV thanks to blood poisoning and was slightly out of commission for work. Of course when he needs my help, I'm there. So, off I went to the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex to help him set-up some of the A/V for the weddings going on over the weekend. So while I was helping him, I was also taking the shots I needed for the wedding portfolio.

Some of them I can't post due to some privacy issues but this one I certainly can. I loved the black and white theme they were doing.
